Our Loire vineyards

at the heart of our lives and our field

Hailing from Bourgueil and Vouvray in western France, our family and our wines are rooted in two historic Touraine terroirs. Located in the heart of the Loire Valley, surrounded by a mosaic of wine appellations, Touraine is a zone of contrasting climatic and geological transition, yet one that impresses visitors with its mildness. It is subject to both maritime and continental influences. It is also where the black schists of the Armorican massif give way to the white tuffeaux of the Paris Basin.
For 35 years, we have practiced and championed organic and biodynamic viticulture. Our Loire Valley may be a foggy river valley, with higher-than-average fungal pressure and a greater risk of frost, but we refrain from using pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides in our vineyards. This isn't just because working without harmful agrochemicals aligns with our values—it's not just because we want to protect our team, local wildlife, or the environmental integrity of our planet. We believe there's an aesthetic reward, too.

TERROIR

While terroir is defined by exposure, climate, and soil composition, it is also expressed through the complex interrelationships between different living elements. It is the balance between the vine, the soil, the microorganisms, and the local yeasts that creates the authenticity and richness of a terroir.

The soils that nourish our vines teem with invisible life: earthworms, fungi, and other hardworking microorganisms recycle energy and nutrients, creating pathways that aerate the soil.

Balance and resilience

The vine's mycorrhizal partners transform essential minerals into usable forms and can even functionally extend the plant's root system. By supporting these elegant alliances, we foster balanced and resilient vines where indigenous yeast populations can thrive. These hyperlocal yeasts are the lifeblood of our fermentations, essential flavor agents, and the foundation of what we consider a magnificent terroir.

BOURGUEIL

In Bourgueil, Cabernet Franc thrives on a variety of surface soils, ranging from alluvial gravel - locally called galuches or galichets - to the calcareous clays that give rise to our ageing reds.

VOUVRAY

A little further up the river lies Vouvray. On this plateau, the siliceous clays and dense silts support our Chenins, giving them remarkable depth and concentration.

We are located on the right bank of the Loire, on the side of this transition – the limestone hillside! This chalky and porous bedrock gives our wines their characteristic velvety structure (and also houses the underground cellars where they age).
